It almost feels like they author is skirting between mono and poly, while making Maria the 'target', yet never actually ruling out the other girls from the picture, worse of both worlds.I’m honestly disappointed in this resolution for Karin. Some people are poly, and that makes them a tough fit for mono folk. I’d be much more satisfied with that being the reason for Karin dropping out than this “I’ve been sublimating my pure desire for maternal affection into hypersexuality and hedonism” thing that we’ve gone with instead.
Despite the obvious and widespread fascination in manga with non-monogamous situations, they almost always chicken out because they assume the Japanese population won't accept anything but a monogamous outcome. It almost feels like they author is skirting between mono and poly, while making Maria the 'target', yet never actually ruling out the other girls from the picture, worse of both worlds.
