i swear this "Translator" thingy is kinda pure BS, especially when you’ve been doing this for more than 2 years. i can see AI-ish stuff in so many parts. he doesn’t even know basic N5 Japanese or notice the mistakes in so many places. it’s kinda like he just throws the pics into ChatGPT and lets it cook, since most of the translation is kinda good, but when it comes to the OCR part, it just spits out some weird mumbo jumbo. or he gives an out-of-context translation or overly localizes some parts.

as i always said, i don’t mind MTL translators, but i absolutely fucking despise a lazy shithead who does a sloppy job. when you see that the translation is weird, YOU JUST FUCKING CROP THE HANDWRITTEN PART THAT OCR FUCKS UP AND SEND IT TO AI TO ASK what it means. it takes 5 seconds, and you refuse to do it. you don’t even fix the typesetting, which is literally just copy+paste, even though you can clearly see there’s a line break error.

as for me, stealing someone’s work to make a translation is already bad enough, so you should at least do it properly or put some effort into it. at the very least, it might help people buy the original work or follow the author on Twitter to support them. don’t just shit on their work with a sloppy AI translation while asking for donations.

You are not wrong, I can say that much. But there is a difference between giving criticism and just insulting someone. If you want someone to be better at something, it should be with encouragement or guidance. Why would someone listen to a person that drags them through the mud? Especially in a system where one can turn off everything you say with a button.

And you can't say this is tough love. You have nothing to indicate that. You are nobody here, you have no laurels, no claim to fame, why should someone listen to you when you treat them as you do. You are just a stranger screaming into the void.

I generally don't speak on TL quality, cause I don't understand the effort that goes into it. I tend to appreciate an effort was made, even if it was a poor effort. I also don't know what circumstances people are in, so I try not to make unilateral judgements when I'm a stranger mooching off their work. (I'll buy the novel when it comes out in english)

As you've said you own the sources material, so I believe that you have a leg to stand on when speaking on these matters, but the tone of it is often just as important as the subject.
