He didn't think that through very well. A B rank mercenary who kills for fun isn't the best body to choose for your friend who was slaughtered. On the bright side, she should be able to do anything Nasha was able to do. On the more realistic side, since they have no idea what Nasha's abilities were in the first place, it's almost impossible to guess how she will learn how to use this new body. Maybe he will BS something like "the body still remembers how to move even if the soul does not". Plus he'll need to learn the limits of his magic. If he passes out when using too much power then that's going to be an issue as well.

@Rin2k @burdrann I get that it makes sense thematically, most of the time, but we're talking about a world with magic and demons, why do they choose slavery to be the "realistic" part. I mean in 90% of the isekai they end up at hot springs and eating curry, no matter where it's supposedly located or era it's supposed to be in. So choosing to use slavery in your writing, without good reason, is troubling. Especially when they are glorifying it like in "How Not to Summon a Demon Lord" or using the argument, "But, I am a good slave owner" like in this or in "The Rising of the Shield Hero". Unless the rest of this story involves overturning the slavery system somehow I will continue to be troubled by this one.

Without compelling reasons, using slavery is just lazy writing. Especially since, in a lot of cases, the "slavery" aspect becomes COMPLETELY irrelevant as the story moves forward (again I don't know how this particular story plays out so I guess I can't comment on that).

this went on longer than expected for something almost no one will read 🙄, so I will stop here.

To be fair, there’s a lot of reasons. Eye for an eye, body for a body was already used. True revival was seemingly out of question, so MC compromises, since being alive is ultimately better than dying quickly and unfulfilled? It’s efficiency, since the murderer was going to die one way or another?

In the end, the MC was acting out of his own selfish satisfaction, as paradoxically selfless as it was. He killed the bad guys ignoring law and due process, and forcibly technically brought the girl Melina back to life. At least the girl is thankful, as helpless as she is, being unskilled in a powerful body.

Sorry about that. I misread the word.
Though rats, too, are innocent animals.
The issue about them becoming a plague and being seen as rodents is a result of human civilisation creating the perfect place with lots of food and without many natural enemies for rats.

Rats are hardly innocent animals. They'll kill and cannibalize one another or steal from other rats (even if it's the carcass of another dead rat) at the first opportunity, if not for food, then for dominance; usually for territory or mates. And even without civilization, they'll gnaw their way into a remote cave if it has another animal or person in it that they can bite and eat, even if they're still alive. They're not seen as rodents. They are rodents.

But since you seem to like rats so much, then you'll love these recommendations:
Survival
Survival: Shounen S no Kiroku

Also, would you still get sad to see a wild cat go hunt, kill and eat a mouse or rat? How about if they're bringing the dead animal to her litter of kittens? I ask that rhetorically, because I'm tired and not really all that interested in continuing the debate. Agree to disagree and all that.

they'll probably pull some she has to re-register her status to be officially enslaved and that should let both of them know the body's skill set and base stats, or even if it doesn't force it, they'll probably make up an excuse to check it...after all it is a fantasy world with status check magic available

I understand the allure of a kemonomimi girl but, is just to used by now, I also liked her more with her previous appearance.

I do like that her cheerfulness is still there.

You're right, I see, it's not an isekai, my bad.

From my point of view, though, if an author uses a real world language in a fantasy world, there had better be some good reason for doing so; for me, it breaks immersion. (Rule of cool? No thanks.) At the very least, the author ought to give a reason why it must be that language. YMMV, but I personally find my suspension of disbelief becoming unsuspended when a significant real world element (e.g., religions, geopolitical relationships, etc.) is used in a fantasy setting without any real reason (alternate history? meddling by aliens? time travel?) for it being the case. It would be one thing to say that a fantasy language has certain syntactical elements common with Dutch. It is another thing entirely to say that a fantasy language evolved exactly into Dutch.

Anyway, thanks for your correction. 🙂
