Reread all of the chapters, first of all:
@burmn123 I don't think that's going to happen, this series has had success.
I think Rena-senpai is one the worst things in the manga to have happened to the plot. Onto spoiler territory now

Let me immediately say that it's not that I particularly dislike her type, or that I'm a monogamy zealot: is just that, in this plot, she just doesn't work as a love interest. Since it would be completely unfair on my part to compare her to the titular heroine, I will draw comparisons with Akino, the gamer girl.
I invite you all to reread Akino's introduction (ch. 6-7.1-2) and compare it to Rena's (ch.15). Akino doesn't immediately fall for MC, instead this happens only after sharing her interests, furthemore she develops a strong friendship with the Main Girl, which is very good because it generates drama in a natural way, and drama is good. Rena comes from literally nowhere. In only one chapter she is revealed as a very popular girl, the supersmart perfect type, while being MC's neighbour. Sorry, what? Tsubasa are you fucking blind? Does this girl like go to school at 5AM or something? What the fuck? She then proceeds to get insanely moist at seeing him dressed up in traditional clothes, and hug him. Let's set aside the fact that I really don't think seeing an acquaintance will make people react that way regardless of dress, this was only one chapter. To get her to fall for MC, it took the "actually-my-neighbour" trope, and later attempts to get her to be closer are just more tropes (fated meeting with his grandad? What?).
Now, why did I get into all that waifubashing? Partially because I wanted to vent, but also because I do think the economy of the story is cut short by this unnecessary 4th wheel. Panels spent on her are panels not spent on Akino. Fuyuki clearly doesn't suffer from any cuts at her screentime. What could be time better spent setting up a convincing love triangle is instead wasted on an half assed excuse of an harem, where main girl decisively hogs the spotlight, thus making every other girl a side-chick at best or a gimmick at worst. Fuyuki might be going to spend time offscreen for a while, clearly an attempt to give the other girls some light. That's just a fucking waste.
