Despite its flaws, and how critical I usually am of romcoms given how many genre trappings I usually have to suffer through... this series has always had so much heart and wit that I've kept my rating of it at a 10/10. The pages of comments from people who can't fathom the concept of light-hearted banter (and flood the comments enough to distract from the people writing actual criticisms) weren't enough to sway me.
There's too much this series does well! I always have a good time reading, and I love the character designs. Hoshigasaki slowly becoming that ditzy puppy that everyone casually roasts is great. Little sis Satsuki is a 5/5 side character. Whoever's in charge of the manga adaptation did a great job converting all the interactions into manga form, it reads and flows naturally. There're a lot of stories where it's more obvious that it's an adaptation because the visuals don't do a good job of filling in the gaps or accentuating things, so you just read a lot of yapping - but I rarely got that vibe here.
Also, amidst the series' banter, there'll occasionally be some line that really hits me and makes me think about the story differently - namely, that throwaway line about the MC observing how surprisingly similar the Class President is to him. I can't unhear it in all her interactions thereafter.
Binging this series again, just in time to find out the once-axed LN is BACK...
Man.
Life's good.
