I have a vague suspicion that at some point translator started using licentia poetica in regards to source material: middle of the second chapter is where relationships-related language became harsher, phrasing noticeably passive-aggressive, and the protagonist's personality went from depressed - neurotic to cryptically resentful towards men- and -society in general (weird case of vaguely articulated, but very subject specific grudges). Can happen, and as far as rl cases go quite often does, but since the format is only 30 pages, we're not that well acquainted with the characters yet, and the girl in question was portrayed before as mostly meek and self-hating person rather than any other kind, the shift in tone come seemingly out of nowhere.
Might as well be just the case of bad writing or early installment weirdness of course (it is the beginning after all), but nevertheless, it somehow leaves bad aftertaste.
