Carbuncle refers to 2 things, a type of abcess/infection and a legendary creature in chilean folklore associated with gemstones, the final fantasy creature is obviously based on the creature and so is it here, likely referring to the gemstone shown in the final panel.…that city name is Carbuncle, isn’t it? Kalbunkle doesn’t make sense, but any fantasy game or FF player will immediately notice it’s just Carbuncle once you swap the Ks with Cs and the Ls with Rs.
It's also a gemstone. And some other things named after it.Carbuncle refers to 2 things, a type of abcess/infection and a legendary creature in chilean folklore associated with gemstones
Yeah, my thoughts exactly. Hopefully there's some development/reasoning given to like, get rid of the city (something like Sierra passing the necessary bits of legacy on to him like the dryad tree/crystal, but then deciding the city should be left as a relic of the past as she gives her body back to goblin girl), because if it's really just "oh gee look at this city, now we don't need to bother making a city in this manga about developing a new land anymore", I'll roll my eyes pretty hard.Cool. So now we have an entire city for the cave king’s people to move in to. Yay. No more of that boring old world building he was doing cause now they don’t need a home built. Woo. Hoo.
…Fucking hell this was one of the manga I actually enjoyed re for the world building specifically and now it’s going downhill faster than the sweat on the underboob of an elf.
In my opinion, this underground city isn't practical for them to use because of how far it is from the surface. People who are used to seeing the sun every day will want to see it.Yeah, my thoughts exactly. Around metaphorical story telling trope-elves watch yourselves. The ancient adage is true even when it comes to metafiction.Cool. Inb4 mirrors, lots of mirrors. Or even worse, they have an underground sun through magic or some other bs.In my opinion, this underground city isn't practical for them to use because of how far it is from the surface. People who are used to seeing the sun every day will want to see it.
