This backstory of the Vellan Empire is reminding me a lot of Drakengard/Nier. I've only actually gotten bits and pieces of that story from Nier Automata, but the parallels with WCS (using acronym to be less spoilery) and Project Gestalt are pretty interesting to me.

One plus side to this chapter, previously I was worried that they were gonna inherit this underground city and nullify the whole "city building" aspect of the series (as some manga love to drop their central idea), but this chapter makes it pretty clear that living underground is bad for the soul, so it's not likely to happen.

Though I guess there's always the option of "the conflict with the black calamity ends up breaking open the cave ceiling, making Carbuncle no longer underground", but I think that's less likely to happen.

living underground is bad because of there is no sun which is not healthy at all. too bad they couldn't evolve.

what so the LN get cut sort compared to WN, i mean this whole part with the queen take over also didnt happen in WN, the whole underground city and its ancient people got different approach in Wn too thought it did might get close to WN with how its goes here

Though i haven't read it completely, from the parts I had read, it seems that after the mock battle of the Ships Crew and the Fake Leviathan, while the Manga moves to the plot of the underground city. The Light Novel instead seems to move to the plot relating to the Stone Orb that Kobold kid found and is taking care of, followed by MC and Reina's marriage before ending.

okay, i'm warming up to this again. the lore is actually pretty good. it also foreshadows the major conflict in the future. i just hope there's no longer any chapter with pointlessly long battle

in WN if i not remember it wrong after this whole underground city arc (there no human like android, straight to origin of slime and ancient empire and the reason they go underground) then MC brother (which number of prince its again) came to pick fight against MC, MC of course beat him and King came to extract the idiot, Reina show brave side here standing in front of King and said her piece how the idiot brother came to bother MC to MC surprise, the king didnt mad at her and only accept her critic. next arc is dragon-man kingdom(to difer from true dragon merchant that came from underground way all the way from north) ship to made trouble and MC former Fiancé also came to this island. then MC and co found teleporter to other continent, one of them to continent where dwarf once reside, here we know about Happa origin, next to elf(?) like forest helping them defeat evil empire(?) as well fight some part of black calamity
