i like all the characters so far, i do... I just wish the story was more about the main 2 and their chill survival days inside the dragon. It didn't take enough time to explore their dynamic before expanding the cast.
It is a staple of the "this overworked person was actually key to an operation and is betrayed/whatever" trope to expand on how things go wrong without them. The author is actually doing a lot of interesting stuff with that bit, so even if I also wish we saw a bit more relaxation and the two developing as friends before this kicked off, I still enjoy it.

I'm sure my timeline's fucked up but surely Rei should have properly turned over the Knight Commander position to Lienna properly, right? She has this much authority even when she's retired but I feel like Lienna had no authority at all and was just following orders.

The way it's going they are probably going to clarify things, but as it is, my understanding is that Rei has so much authority because she has been Commander multiple times, taking back the role when no one qualified could hold it, and Lienna seems to be a bit of a pushover, at least within social interactions.

Now, how the role devolved from Rei giving lectures to prospective knights and, I assume, handpicking her potential successors to Lienna being saddled with paper pushing and administrative chores is supposedly because of how long it's been since the nation faced an actual threat, so the role of Commander doesn't hold the importance it had, even within the order, and is just considered ceremonial. Though given the timeline, that would mean that such a perspective was already developing even as Rei was a Commander

In this chapter we also see that Lienna's straightforward perspective is ridiculed by her cohorts so maybe that's why people in the order look down on her a bit? Even though they surely know how strong she is and she earned her position as Commander.

See starting page
"oh that's the one who got stab in that fight, RIP"

Reach chapter end:
SHE LIVED!?

EDIT: On reflection, Claire's probably woman (in the RAW Liena call Claire with -chan)
I think you don't need that much of a research by knowing the raws my guy. I mean there are curves.

No question about dragon was answered.
At least we learned why she casts fist.
I mean is this country worth saving?

Oh no, is Lily and Lienna's friendship gonna end right here? They've only been friends for 2 chapters and there's already a conflict :haa: and as for that bastard commander, I hope he gets what he deserves

thank you for translation
I feel like she won’t be too mad since she understands that the girl had an explosive magic circle on her and was likely forced to do that. Might be a bit conflicted tho

Acting Commander (who may be nobility) is about to get an earful from our Elf Commander. He's definitely gonna live but he's not getting out of this.

Also if Lily told Lienna that Elf Commander was in the area, Lienna would still be worried she's not outside the dragon but relieved that someone she's knows is taking care of things.
