i like all the characters so far, i do... I just wish the story was more about the main 2 and their chill survival days inside the dragon. It didn't take enough time to explore their dynamic before expanding the cast.

I think it's to give them a goal to start exploring the dragon. While yes, they're still forced to chill out and relax they have a longer term goal of escaping. I think all three of them needed to relax, but also didn't due to having strong reasons not to. The consequences of those strong reasons are starting to pop up. Amon with the magic control spells, MC with the country being attacked.
I'm excited to see them relax, come to terms with this info, relax a bit more and eventually escape. I'm expecting longterm the structure that the dragon will pick up like 2 more people and they'll need all their talents to escape and fix their respective IRL problems.

I really like this series no matter how it goes and am excited for the next chapter.

Also looks like vice commander Claire survived and her strategy of the strong enemy stays behind to guard a retreat fell apart against an extremely aggresive enemy.
