Chapter 50!

I love all the different references to various costumes in this chapter (page 62)! Even if they're tiny. And Avan has so many great expressions this chapter, including the little blush when he sees all the weapons and books.

But like seriously... Avan is so OP. A single night and he knows everything about every weapon ever and their weaknesses and several days later he's written (by hand mind you) an entire book! I'm lucky in a weekend I get the laundry done lol!

Also I spelled wielding wrong on page 61... I just can't... I can't spell ie / ei words... never have... never will.

Also also... I need someone who knows the games really well to take a close look at the weapons on the spreads because knowing how this series is... they're probably all real weapons from the games. There are undoubtedly references I am missing since I've only really played 8 and 11.

Chapter 55 is the real treat. It has a lot of 5th anniversary stuff in it PLUS an extra special thing I put together for everyone. I can't wait for that one!

Well, remember how during the "spell of frozen time" saga, I made a point at the end of the chapter to point out the original panels in the original story when they were doing flashbacks to these events? And noted how things were faithfully adapted (same number of bottles on a ledge, same poses, same angles, same dialogue)?

Well, without entirely ruining the surprise (but also totally ruining it)... let's just say that between Volumes 9 and 14 we are told the entire story of Hyunckel from the final battle in the underground castle to his capture by Mystvearn after falling into the river... and all of these events have analogues to the original series via flashbacks... and to date I surreptitiously have not made any such comparisons at the ends of chapters. Make of that what you will

I fully expect her to recover, this chapter was too much fun to end like that, weapon nerds going haywire! Also, pretty sure that claw weapon in particular made an appearance in the original series.

The Falcon Sword is definitely a series staple. It basically turns your normal attack into two slashes.

Weirdly, I haven't seen any guns from my DQ gaming experience.

I’d guess Shuple becomes a host, tho hopefully Avan keeps it from becoming a long term relationship. She’s one of the strongest fighters we’ve seen in this era

The claws resemble the Iron/Steel/Silver/Gigasteel claws. The whip is I think the Iron whip. And the spear looks like the Iron/Steel/Gigasteel Lance.

I love that! I really do. The amount of effort they put into using canonical dragon quest items, and in keeping with the original series is just really admirable.
