Oh, of course! That explains all the characters with super powerful magic: they're from Pennsylvania. It all makes sense now. It's kind of like how in Philip Wylie's Gladiator novel the Foreign Legion captain completely accepts that the MC's invulnerability and super strength is because he's from Colorado.

Well that was certainly a chuuni twist. Can't say I like the idea of randomly setting up this elf maid as some super powerful shadow figure, it screws up my sense of tension. Sad that the first time the author strayed from just combining MT plot elements, it was this bad.

Was the elf faking being in danger to provoque MC into using his powers?
Or was she expecting MC to leave, so she could use her real power to totally anihilate the monster without nobody being a witness?
