She was a half-Elf all along. Dammit, I feel conflicted. It does explain her fat rounded ears.
This would also explain her fear of losing someone as her father or mother most likely died of old age when she was little.

@Sikhander

It's been foreshadowed since the nightmare chapter where she didn't want her dad to leave her. And when Marcille talked to the Winged Lion it was pretty obvious the lifespan difference between species was a source of personal grief to her.

THISTLE DID NOTHING WRONG!

Expect keeping others trapped against their will I guess.

Thistle is quite mad, he isnt as much fragile as i thought he would be, but at the same time, he clearly has lost most of his sanity.

I didn't expect that, so Marcile is a half-elf, didn't even know it was a topic of discussion.

Thistle did an alright job considering the circumstances, but was way too quick to make decisions without consulting the king, though this is probably mostly because his other desires were being sucked dry. The winged lion is obviously just trying to get a more manageable dungeon master with more selfish desires, and Laius fits the bill perfectly. With no known way to return Thistles other desires, I don't see any other obvious choice than killing him and the winged lion.

Thanks for the translation!

So the ancient civilization that made the dungeon below summoned and used the Winged Lion during their time, and later on the demon became some sort of "guardian deity" figure to the people of the Golden Kingdom, who had inherited that region... not gonna lie, it seems awfully easy to create religions based on demons in the Dungeon Meshi world, as ironic as it may sound, lol.

Also, I find Thirstle as the dungeon master very interesting. Even though his self-sustained circle of paranoia renders him insane, it's exactly that why he never was consumed by the Lion; He doesn't show weaknesses to be replaced, his unending desire to keep everything perfect means he's never satisfied, and his distrust for everything prevents him from being manipulated.

Anyways, good chapter. Hope to see some Laius vs Thistle next, shit's finally gonna hit the fan.

So there we have it, the dwarfs are responsible of all this madness. I thought the saying was never trust an elf, guess it works both ways.
And Marcille half-elf confirmation, after years of speculations.

@es_kan It's because he can't do shit to Thistle without the other half of his body and powers. That's most likely why he's playing both Laius and Marcelle, he needs to throw expendable units at Thistle till she's beaten, then he kills her and sucks up to the victor to feed on their desires.
