Worse, she was charmed, the hero probably has a mind control ability. He is an ass, he literally used came on her, made her leave her apothecary that belonged to her late parents and left her stranded on God knows where(some far off city).
Also, I believe having a walking potion machine is really useful, they just take it for granted and can't even carry their own potions while fighting, although the problem is really their treatment of her and how they expect to get the potion on their hands, like go get it yourself.

If this Gran person uses mind control on you, you won't be able to shrug it off. You don't even know how his power exactly works, it could be the strongest version of it so it will probably be unavoidable by villagers.

@Mizumachi I'm not the main character of a fantasy series, though. You can explain her weakness to mind control in myriad ways, but it doesn't change the fact she's weak to mind control (weak-minded). It's just a main character attribute I personally dislike. It doesn't need to be magic mind control, just ordinary tricks and manipulation are counted in as well. There are few things I dislike in fiction as much as the main character immediately believing everything an enemy is telling them. That's like the ultimate apex of being weak-minded. Perhaps you now can somewhat interpret what I'm trying to express.

W... Why would you judge the quality of herbs or the reward for an herb collection job by the gatherer's rank? Hell, low-risk gathering jobs would be done almost entirely by E or D ranks so an her doing one should hardly be surprising. Why would a C or higher even bother doing something tedious like herb collection? In fact, since most people in these settings become an adventurer to fight monsters, it's likely that D ranks would also avoid doing those tedious noncombat quests if there are low-rank subjugation quests available.

Can't disagree completely if I am honest.
I dislike weakness, but don't condemn it completely, unless it is unbearable or something which the mc can easily solve.
In this case, I can't blame her for falling prey to this power.
She is weak minded currently like you say though, regardless of powers used against her.

@Mizumachi Yeah, considering how she is, it's not like I'd hold her accountable for being weak, I just dislike the very fact the story made her such and she could fall for such a thing, for an extended period of time. Obviously it's a part of the story, so it can't be helped, no matter how much I dislike it. However, why must shoujo often have the female main character easily fall to the wiles of handsome men? There's a distinct lack of willpower there. It might be due to the traditional patriarchalism in Japan. I'm not saying the MCs in shounen could always avoid manipulation coming from cute girls, but I still feel like there exists a very clear difference. It's like a female MC, no matter how much power, dreams, and ambition she happened to previously have, suddenly become only a subservient support character when the primary male character enters the picture.

But I'm going off on a tangent here.

Shoujo tend to do that, which is why I sometimes dislike it. The mc being and staying weak.
There are shows where the female lead(or protagonist, more like) is strong though, I like those.

How is she weak minded? This isn't her fault. He used mind control and scammed her. This isn't her being weak to hot guys. He grabbed her shoulders, looked deep into her eyes, and she started feeling sleepy. That's not the normal shoujo trope. If this was regular shoujo silliness, she would have been talking about how hard her heart is beating. Also...I'd bet money that he forged her ranking documents.

In short, nope, this isn't about will. This is about somebody using mind control and attacking your self esteem so they can use you.

yup, I mean.
They even try to emphasize how she thinks it is weird that she can't look away, or remember his face really clearly even though the time spent together was probably not even memorable at all.
