The MC has been a scatterbrained idiot from the start, and not just when she thinks with her junk. But I will say, she threw out the idea this was a succubus because she didn't use Bewitching Eyes on Filia immediately. Like, she explicitly thinks that in her internal narration, that's why. Then once she eliminated that possibility (wrongly) she went "Oh shit I have seriously injured a child I need to fix this, okay thank god I've fixed it, time to relax and be kind to her and have my usual composure up, and OH GOD SHE'S A SUCCUBUS HOWEVER COULD I HAVE KNOWN". It is stupid, but it shouldn't be like, inconceivably stupid. The pieces were there.

(Also she didn't say that the stronger version of the ward activated, just that the ward activated; assuming the English is correct, its effect was tweaked to deal damage that's more effective to succubi, rather than given a second extra ward that activates on touch-by-succubus.)

Anyways, this poor fucking girl. She thought for a second Halo understood and had just chosen to spare her anyways, and then... Nope.

Dooble hit the high points, but there's something else to consider: A smaller frame would take greater damage from electricity, magical or otherwise. Remember the scene from Jurassic Park where the kid got caught by the electric fence? Y'know, the one meant to keep dinos in? Sent him flying and stopped his heart. Point being, after a certain point of intensity, overkill starts looking awfully similar, so mentioning the fact that the wards are stronger against succubi is less damning than it might otherwise have been. I don't blame Halo for letting "oh no, half-dead kid and it's my fault" push aside the consideration that she should be more careful.
