okay I will now explain the full picture of this universe and what exactly is going on

first is the galge, it is not just a game, it is actually another world, which the story was described by the 'author' someone from that world
what is the content of that world? I think you all should already know this from the early chapter, if you're WN reader you should see a lot more, I will explain the setting of that world, and it will be explained eventually in the future for those who haven't read WN, so you can skip it if you want to know as the manga's story progress

Original Timeline​

that world where the witch is the last boss, someone who possesses the dark element mana and overwhelmingly power, to counter the witch, the saint was born, the saint has the same dark element mana, dark element mana, in other words, is the space magic, the owner of this mana has their body in the second dimension, which means it can not be harm by the first dimension, so the witch won't receive damage at all, also since dark element mana is space magic, their body won't age as a result, the saint was born with this exact dark element as the witch in that world, the witch will try to destroy the world, and the saints and humans desperately fight back, but the dark element user can be defeated by the dark element as well, once the saint manages to kill the witch the power of witch will transfer to the one who kills them, the power of witch or we could say, the wrath of the previous generation of witches, the saint will eventually turn into a witch, when the world realize that the saint turned into the witch, the new saint will be born to fight the witch and become the endless cycle

that for the setting of the world, now the content of the galge, which Niito was playing in the early chapter, the protag of that game is Vernell and the current generation saint is Eterna, but because the unforeseen mistake, another girl was mistakenly taken as the saint, from now on we will call her the fake saint, the story of galge or rather, that world is full of tragedy, the fake saint drunk in her power and abuses other, Eterna and Vernell suffer from the fake saint and the witch, which in almost every route of the game Eternal would become a witch after defeated the previous witch than die

Niito who really disliked that ending played that game a lot, and on that faithful day, he died, but not fully died, which caused his soul to split, the split of that soul traveled to that world, but since the soul was traveled with the speed higher than light, that soul travel to the past, but since travel to the past is not possible, this cause timeline to breach and became the new timeline where Elrise was Niito from very beginning
what is different, fatto Elrise, and current Elrise? from now on, I will refer to the original timeline as Timeline A and the alternative timeline as Timeline B, current Elrise caused the whole storyline to change, and now I will explain that the new storyline

Elrise the current generation of saints was said to have become aware of her duty when she turned 5, she began to be active as a saint helping people, and started fighting demons at the age of 10, she reclaimed the land from demons, thoroughly hunted down a demon, turn the burdened land into fertile land, and she has the perfect image as the saint, along with her overwhelming power, she called the greatest saint of all time, even the witch is so scared of Elrise to the point of going into hiding Elrise took part of the dark power from Venell so she could damage the witch, and by doing that Venell turns his heart inward toward Elrise, Elrise helps out protag from time to time, it was, in the end, she confesses to the few people she truth, but the king confined her, and since normal human can't withstand the dark power, even just a part of it, it causes Elrise to stop aging and her lifespan severely shorten, she died during imprisonment, the witch return after the died of Elrise, Venell, Eternal and his group would confront the witch, at the end Eternal would defeat the witch, turned into the witch and died not much different from Timeline A

as you can see, the flow of the story is almost different from Timeline A, because, in this reality, fatto Elrise does not exist, and of course, the story above is from galge, it isn't the whole story of this title, rest assured, I will try not to spoil the future as much as possible

current Elrise will be the one who explains about the saint and the witch in the early part of the story, the wiki part that Elrise read when she was back to Niito, her past self before she regained her memory at the age of 5 at the dance party, most of the world setting will be explained by the 'author' in a next chapter anyway

I don't think ALL of that was confirmed in the webnovel. Some parts are just the most plausible reason aside from "the world did some shenanigans"

Well, it didn't say straightforwardly that it is another timeline, but with all the hints and author notes, it's most likely the case, also the content I put in the table is mostly what appeared in the novel, aside from my specular of the alternate timeline, so which one I missed? can I hear it? Since it was one of the few titles I dug around its world setting, I want to gather any data I can, so I'd be happy to get new info

Mostly the time travel itself. They never got to talk to the world per se, so they didn't get confirmation on how exactly the time travel happened. Time dilation generally throws you FORWARD in time, after all.

The character named Marie in this series already appeared in the manga and was in the WN for this series (first shows up in the tournament I think). I'm just wondering if that bit is a reference, because it's exactly what happened with Trapped in a Dating Sim.
