A bunch of boys hanging up to beat a girl? That is quite odd because most boys would be embarrassed.

the part where the girl afraid of him instead of thanking him, it hurt to watch but can't be helped since most of victims mind is working like that.
they have no courage to come out from their situation but has no regard on those who helped them.
not all of them like that but most case is.
another exampie is when bullied person fights back, they got punished instead. because People around them know but they didn't help so they deep down afraid to be held for responsible and accountable.

Actually, if the girl was afraid she would just agree passively but never actually call him. More logically is that she is afraid his meddling will mean those guys will take it out on her more harshly when he isn't watching so she is pushing him away.

Also, the big reason why a victim can get in trouble is because most bullies know where to draw the line not to get in trouble. A bullied person usually fights back at spur of the moment without thinking ignoring all lines.

Perception is important and many people don't consider that when they fling out emotionally

ugh , yeah. can't argue with that.

but there also case where they don't care about the line. especially when they have backing (like high position parents or relatives, money, etc)

That is still a line. Even if they have backing be it high position family, money or etc. The line is simply bigger for them and with experience they know how much they can get away with. That isn't to say bullies don't cross the line at spur of the moment, but that usually is when they get in trouble. But many bullies know their line and stick within it. Not so for victims who lash out without thinking (unless they are lucky)

To give you a personal example, there was this kid who was semi bullying me from time to time. Mostly because there were easier targets in class and he probably knew I was stronger than him. But I tended to be very tolerant so sometimes he took advantage of that.

So one time in class during a free class, he came up, took my paper and crumpled it up. Normally I would just get annoyed and let it go. But that day something snapped and I came up to him, lifted him by the neck with one hand and flung him. He crashed into multiple desks and fell on the floor. At that point, I woke up from snapping seeing everyone including the teacher staring. I was like "oh shit, I'm going to get suspended". That is an example of a victim losing control and picking a poor location while going too far and crossing the line. If I at least found him outside of school and did that, it would have been easier to get away with then doing it right in middle of a class

So everyone is staring there frozen. But the teacher comes to the kid on the floor and tells him to go to the dean. Yes, he got in trouble. It seems the teacher happened to be looking down and didn't see me pick him up and fling him. All they saw was end result after the crash noise. And since he fell quite a bit away from me, the teacher likely thought he was fooling around and ended up toupling over the desks. This is an example of perception. What you see and what others see are 2 different things. Someone can punch you, and you punch them back but no one saw you get punched, only you punching them. Bullies also know how to abuse perception unlike a person lashing out. I just got lucky

Of course the class always follows the rules of "snitches get stitches". So nobody said anything. Even the bullies so called friends said nothing and just laughed at the odd turn of events

How come we havent had a single scene with the witch yet
Is she even gonna be a character? I can already see her being treated as a gag getting her cheeks obliterated within heir introduction chapter
look, there is some difference going on mentally, but I'm not sure depicting that negatively by having him act empathically to the dead cat and defending a victim of assault works, tbh
Hes literally a freak thats interested in dead animals and beats random thugs with a pipe
The message isnt "helping people bad" its "dont be a fucking sociopath" even the girl he helped didnt wanna go near him
this is one of thee segments where it really started to stand out from the other isekai stories for me
Its basically just this
https://mangadex.org/title/2da3d581...eaucrat-to-villainess-dad-s-been-reincarnated
Plot twist: here no isekai, it all happening in the head of dying man.
Probably partly true
I swear if this turns into some half baked "none of it was real" garbage
Really the only way to justify this ludicrous shit in world is if he walks into that building and there is capital G God sitting there and stats monologing about all of that is happening because hes having a lugh

There are a lot of spoilers in posts here... IMO some of those give too much away that should be saved for the end, but YMMV. Read with caution.

His "Oh your poor thing" for the cat is pretty distant, he's not empathizing. As for defending the assault victim, it's because he's "playing a game" he's just doing the "right thing" for the gameplay at that point, and he's not afraid of dying or getting hurt because he just sees himself like a PC in a game.

JP manga/LN is chock full of sociopaths and near-sociopaths. Most are non-malevolent. IDK if it's a JP thing, or just a JP manga/LN thing. Though I'm thinking that it's probably the former.

i feel this back in middle school there was guy getting ganged up on in the changing room so i tryed to help him and both the guy getting ganged up on and the people ganging up on him got mad at me.
like dude would rather get hes ass kicked then be seen as weak for getting help from someone it was weird.
there was more details but i forgot alot of it since it was so long ago.
