On one hand, he was a fan of hers and his greatest anger was how Eternia always died at the end.
On the other hand, if he wants to take the reins of the plot to protect her it also means keeping Eternia as far away from said path as possible.

But since it was never said outright, this is all a guess.

Alot of things have been changed in this chapter, especially Supple Ment's past. His backstory was heart wrenching. He comes to hate humanity all together, he clings on Elrise for hope. Clearly all of those elements have been removed.

This is how his past was present in the WN.

Removing his past kind of ruined his character.
He is my second favorite character in the whole WN because of how strange his personality is and his weird competence. He had a tragic past but was able to overcome it through sheer effort and hard work.

Now he just looks like an Obssesed stalker without any personality
