You're equating the reasoning ability of starving children who have to routinely ration the smallest amount of drinking water, all in the aftermath of a post-nuclear holocaust, to your own concepts of rationality that aren't subject to the same contraints or even age demographic.

You don't really seem to understand what real desperation can drive a person to do.
