Gotta say - liking the story, but the longer this specific backstory goes on, the less I understand how he was blindsided by anything at the start of the story. Like, at this point in time, he has seen so much horrid abuse of power and authority that it's wild to think that he could have not taken literally any interaction after this with enough grains of salt.

It is funny with how many titles I've seen where everything is awful - that this one has given us a canonical reason why everything is so messed up.

Chapters like this still hit hard, but we know that this world is terrible on purpose because of the gods - so it still works in context.

Is raul being apprentice knight, have this kind of thing done to him, or even have some friendship with the princess when they are small ever being foreshadowed in the earlier chapter. I have skipped quite a lot of chapters since the initial revenge arc and only sometimes come to read again.

I have always though he is someone from some village, got picked up to be a hero (not in his childhood) by the kingdom then suffer and die from being exploited by pretty much everyone.
