That is quite the lore dump on the royal family. Not only are they all massive piles of shit, we already knew that. But they're also this type of piles of shit. Which is not surprising but....still.
Gotta say - liking the story, but the longer this specific backstory goes on, the less I understand how he was blindsided by anything at the start of the story. Like, at this point in time, he has seen so much horrid abuse of power and authority that it's wild to think that he could have not taken literally any interaction after this with enough grains of salt.
Actually, on the contrary. It answers something that's bothered me since chapter 1.
I always thought it was very strange that Raoul appeared to adapt so quickly to his vengeful mindset. He went from appearing meek and friendly, to screaming that he'd take his revenge in a total 180 turn. And then upon seeing the goddess, instantly adopted a demonic demeanor and took advantage of her.
Throughout the rest of the manga, he shows signs he's aware of the various Gods past and current scheming, and it doesn't seem like he's only found all that out after the first time he died in this world. The first chapter dissonance, I put it down to the simpler premise of this manga at the beginning and going straight for the over-the-top splash even if it didn't seem very realistic. But the later plot details were harder for me to dismiss.
Going all the way back to the original chapter 1 now, I see my memory of it is not only accurate, but I even see details now like "So I've finally managed to die", like as if this was his plan all along. Assuming the original Japanese was also that, I think the author had planned some version of this since the beginning. Raoul did actually know all of this, and was already going to take wholesale revenge on everyone. Getting killed, acting the naive fool, pretending he didn't know how scummy the people around him were, all of it was part of the plan.
