"oh, he doesn't want me, he wants this scary invisible thing that keeps killing anything that so much as looks at me sideways, all for the sake of politics, this is bad...
[...]
oh, he really does want me (in a way), doesn't give a fuck about politics, & doesn't even seem to know about the scary invisible thing that keeps killing anything that so much as looks at me sideways, does he? welp okay bye i guess mr. pedo" lol
It's even funnier from Victoria's perspective and how she's (probably) watching the whole thing.

"Yay! My older half-brother aknowledged Raoul as a super-strong, super-capable knight! As it should be! Sasuga Raoul-sama!"

...

...
"Wait, is he checking how built he is? I wish it could be me! Is... oh. Oh. OH..."
Sigh
"Whatever, another one bites the dust. Bring the magical choking ropes!"

That is quite the lore dump on the royal family. Not only are they all massive piles of shit, we already knew that. But they're also this type of piles of shit. Which is not surprising but....still.

Gotta say - liking the story, but the longer this specific backstory goes on, the less I understand how he was blindsided by anything at the start of the story. Like, at this point in time, he has seen so much horrid abuse of power and authority that it's wild to think that he could have not taken literally any interaction after this with enough grains of salt.

Actually, on the contrary. It answers something that's bothered me since chapter 1.

I always thought it was very strange that Raoul appeared to adapt so quickly to his vengeful mindset. He went from appearing meek and friendly, to screaming that he'd take his revenge in a total 180 turn. And then upon seeing the goddess, instantly adopted a demonic demeanor and took advantage of her.

Throughout the rest of the manga, he shows signs he's aware of the various Gods past and current scheming, and it doesn't seem like he's only found all that out after the first time he died in this world. The first chapter dissonance, I put it down to the simpler premise of this manga at the beginning and going straight for the over-the-top splash even if it didn't seem very realistic. But the later plot details were harder for me to dismiss.

Going all the way back to the original chapter 1 now, I see my memory of it is not only accurate, but I even see details now like "So I've finally managed to die", like as if this was his plan all along. Assuming the original Japanese was also that, I think the author had planned some version of this since the beginning. Raoul did actually know all of this, and was already going to take wholesale revenge on everyone. Getting killed, acting the naive fool, pretending he didn't know how scummy the people around him were, all of it was part of the plan.

Pretty sure in this situation, an actual knight would reprimand the noble with a swift kick between the legs.

What bothers me the most about this manga is that some readers think Victoria is still at fault and deserves everything Raoul put her through. She is pretty much a saint in a world much worse than Berserk, and it took all kinds of magic and divine interference for her to be controlled and lose herself. I'd like to see some people try to do better through all that magic brainwashing than she did. I certainly would be much worse.

And even though it's extremely unlikely, I hope her love for Raoul will stop at some point and she will gain some clarity. There is no reason to love him, especially after what he has become - and he did all of that willingly. He is about as bad as the gods and the best thing he could do is kill them, then kill himself and let the world heal.

Surprised that Vicky didn't reacted earlier tho : the second he said NO, that was clear he wasn't enjoying it !!

imagine getting saved by your future rapist tho:worry:

ACTUALLY, during this one, she was possessed by the Goddess of Love : she wasn't even left with the memory of it considering she thought she was getting her periods when feeling blood dripping down when it was done...

at least he was an adult when it happened...? i guess......? so she's a rapist but not a pedophile rapist
You do not, in fact, have to hand it to the future rapist. Once again: it was explicitly stated that the Goddess of Love would not have been able to meat-puppet her if she had not already wanted to ride his baloney pony herself. It gives her an explanation, it does not absolve her of sin: it certainly does not explain away her having his sister raped and murdered, or the rest of his comrades killed to have him all to herself.

I am once again imploring the author to begin the process of finishing this up, this flashback has worn out its welcome by an order of magnitude

Welp... saw that coming read enough "dark" "medieval" "fantasy" manga to see the prince being sexually interested in him.... to believe his first bj was by a grapist of all things, and vick is still being influenced by a love potion at a young age.
guess Victoria was an enough popular character to justify a multi-chapter backstory arc.

From what I can tell quite the opposite she was hated for a very long time while Teodora was instantly popular on her debut and fans even shipped her with the mc because they had chemistry and their relationship/friendship was "pure?" Compared to everything else and fans speculated the author didn't like this and that's why we have this drawn out backstory that's kinda retconning the story so Victoria is seen as a victim as well to lessen her hate and the author themselves probably want vickXraoul and it indeed looks like the author is stalling and watching fan feedback.

Because it looks like the more people hate her the more the author is trying to make us feel sorry for her and now their saying mc would have died and nsfw things could have happened to him if not for her and judging by the comments on here and other sites the author is withering down the hate for her and folks just want it to end lol.

Do we have actual statements from the author about this?
If that's true, the point of making Vick so despicable in the first place to justify that brutal revenge would be made completely moot from a story standpoint. I won't say it would invalidate MC's revenge, as he stated himself that even if she was influenced by an outside voice (be it from the Saintess, the Gods by proxy, and now directly), she still acted upon it anyway in the end. However the fact the story forced MC to "marry" her to allow her in hell alive has left a bitter taste in my mouth, and gives credence that the author might want to save the character of Vick. I'm also in team Teodora.
I would also consider that the author's editor might have a hand in the decision concerning a possible redemption for Victoria.

Although, personally, this arc looks more like a way to hammer down on MC/readers that "Everything that happened is the gods' fault!" As if it wasn't made clear enough from the moment it was set up. Added to the fact that the author is very possibly stalling.

Someone can tell me why did the became the Kingdom hero if he knew that all the royalty are shit? Or why didn't he predicted that they would betray him at the end?
