My theory is that Raoul, wanting to destroy this sick/evil world, is now looking for faults even in good people.
That's because negative emotions like jealousy or greed are intrinsic in the human nature. Even a small thought like "I'd like to give my kid an extra piece of food" can be the spark that ignites the end of this uthopia.
Sure, we don't know how this place works, if it's able to avoid such a thing or if it's just a cage where Raoul can "control through fear" the survivors...for now, what is most likely it's that the mother is the glue that keeps the dream together.

Instead of paradise this is just another type of hell... a hell of restraint, unless they are free to live as they choose to, this is not good... but is a lot better than the alternative of ways the MC can deal with you

No no, I don't think that good people will turn bad. I'm just saying that there is a bit of.....darkness in every person.
And yes, the way I see this chapter is that Raoul, telling them he'll check every week if their soul gets corrupted, is basically creating a "prison". Or rather, he created a situation where the only 2 choices are: be a saint like I want or get squashed and dragged to hell.
More than a fake paradise, almost feel like...you know....Auschwitz.
I could be wrong, and I hope so. That way would mean that there's finally some actual good in this damned story lol.
