I don't believe you meant to write kanji there. Isn't it the same syllable? Many nouns are nothing but a single kanji.

Yeah, that commenter probably meant "kana" and not "kanji". Each kana, meaning a single symbol from either hiragana or katakana, is essentially a syllable

I meant to write kana, like the other commenter said. I got the roles of kanji and hiragana/katakana mixed up in my head, was thinking that a kanji character is a single "syllable" (syllable isn't quite the right word but you get what I mean). 🙃
