Its pretty cheap the way he's doing it.

He's already bought all the gear, and is using public transport & his own feet to get to his campsite. The campsite rentals aren't going to be very much. He's spending on food but it wouldn't be that much more than going out to eat.

Or i guess another way to put it, its probably each camping weekend is probably costing him less than going out for dinner and hitting a bar with friends.
