The first prince is kind of a dumbass , no? Both of his siblings assasinated in the span of like a week? I mean he may have been able to become King anyways but everyone, even the commoners would know hes behind their murders so he would be under a lot of pressure, probably shortly overthrown or assasinated himself. He should have made a more convincing reason why they suddenly died or you know, space their deaths out a little. Atleast a year, so he can play it off as two unfortunate accidents. In fact the whole royal family seems very dumb. King sends his own daughter across a dangerous forest, said princess takes like only a few pathetic guards with her, second prince gets manipulated by first prince and first prince has no long term planning abilities. How is such a country even holding on with that kinda rulership?
