I can understand not pursuing the relationship if it will affect the mangaka's work reputation, especially if it's between them and their assistant. Still, you see famous celebrities getting together, marrying, and divorcing all the time these days, so whether public opinion affected how their relationship developed could vary. Don't see how it can be any different between mangaka and assistant, and if it's really that big of a deal, then MC should find a replacement, but I don't think he gives that much shit over it.
