Well i've read worse, the characters were promissing but the plot and progression was pretty lackluster, I dont know if this was the first work from Takuma Miyuu but i would be interested in reading more works from them in the future as i think they can have potential.

But it does feel a bit underwhelming to end this way, I wish more had been done between them.
And I'll say this, one of the characters running away and everyone else bonding over while looking for them, only for every conflict to be solved when the runaway character returns is a trope I haven't seen much, but whenever it pops up I dislike.

Toradora did it, Hoshino Me wo Tsubutte did it, and now this one. Every time this has happened I couldn't help but think the runaway plot has no meaning and things would have ended the same way, if not better, if the runaway character had stayed and actually dated the protagonist for the last few chapters!

You're exactly correct, which is weird that the series even got this bad in the first place. So I looked it up and it seems to be published in the indies section of Shonen Jump Plus, which has no editor.
So yeah, the author is their own editor. Checks out.
