i know right, it's so simple to stand up for yourself and get out of those situations, i don't understand why people can't do it, just say "no I can't, if it's urgent have someone else do it"I would get fired so quickly in Japan, because there's no way I'm staying late to do a last-minute request like that. My response to that would be: "sorry, my life takes priority"
This is only hearsay, but from what I've heard/read japanese companies don't fire people. Instead, they'll make you as uncomfortable as possible at work. Coworkers might even think less of you if leave on time even if you've done all your for the day. For some reason it's seen as being hard working if you stay behind longer. Don't even need to do any work. Twiddle your thumps until late at night and you'll be a hard working employee.I would get fired so quickly in Japan, because there's no way I'm staying late to do a last-minute request like that. I mean this is standard procedure to avoid paying severance. This is only hearsay, but from what I've heard/read japanese companies don't fire people. Instead, they'll make you as uncomfortable as possible at work.
Let's see if they repay the favor and not just use it as an excuse to dump everything on him.So the office collectively owe him a favour now.
