Man, I don't really understand writers of such reincarnation stories, I don't know how they interpret how the butterfly effect works, but if they already did something, the story will inevitably deviate from the original no matter what they think they can do so there is absolutely no point in stepping aside and giving the spotlight to others or whatever they do, it won't change anything. All I see is an excuse for making a trope of mc hiding their powers and pretending to be weak.

Anyway for why the plot changed, is very simple, MC was there, even if he didn't want to change the original plot his simple presence changes it, unlike other reincarnation stories where it happens because the MC have a main role and wants to ensure the best ending or ends up interfering because their presence is simply too big.
Most likely the demon would have originally slayed the guards or rampaged more in the city, but it noticed MC strenght or even if MC wasn't trying super hard it did enoguh to stop it, that made it run out from the city, MC tried to see if somethin gwould happen up to the last second, but it didn't, the girl didn't awaken some power, hero didn't come, nothing happened, and as MC was a hardcore fan he knew that event didn't exist in the original game, he had to get in the battle.
Now the only thing I really disliked of the chapter was how MC screamed the girl name like if it was a otaku fanboy, hate when characters do that crap and instill suspects in the people hearing.

All of this is because of the weird convention of translating Yuusha as Brave. Yuusha really means hero, but so does Eiyuu, so translation convention went with Brave to distinguish even though it makes less sense. I like the way they went with the official translations of Yuusha ga Shinda: The Legendary Hero is Dead.

Another one of those who refuse to use their knowledge of the future because "they respect the original work". What nonsense is this? Why would a man squander his only advantage in this world for the sake of a plot?!!

In some stories, I have seen systems forcing main characters to interfere in the main narrative and punishing them if they don't. Like, dude! If you love these heroines and crave glory and are already tired of being a mob character in your previous life, why would you repeat the same thing all over again?! But as they say, many people would really prefer to stay as mobs and losers even when given a second chance.

These ideal portrayals of MCs in manga make me wish that Japanese authors would write some of their stories like Korean authors do in their manhuas.
