After reading it I still don't get why this manga was on the popular page. It is just the simple usual isekai manga. Nothing much stood out about it other than the fresh looking artstyle and a bit of funni sprinkled here and there.

I haven't seen such a horrible type of Japanese protagonist in a long time. Not only is he a simp, a huge pushover, and, apparently into cuckoldry, but he also vows to protect the plot and then immediately breaks his vow.
Not to mention, the whole war with the demons is probably going to cost a lot of people their lives, but instead of focusing on the final boss of the game and saving everyone, the selfish MC wants to cosplay a mob character, even though he has far superior stats and game knowledge. Make it make sense.

"I don't want to stand out, I just wanna watch like a camera."
"I don't want to kill this monster since it could affect the story and ruin muh OTP ship."

Damn, is this a new level of low even for isekai MCs ? Still, I'm glad that his action contradicts his ridiculous mindset.

I will never understand why Japs are so infatuated with the "I want to be a loser, a nobody, a mob, I want to be the rug under your feet to walk on, please let me not exist!!" --trope / character trait for the MC.

It's not funny nor fun for the MC to be OP, yet keep claiming he is nothing but walking garbage. It's not charming. It's not even bare minimum writing, for every character to exist just so the MC can deny everything they are saying.

It's exactly like a harem MC to be asexual and awkward. Why even?

It seems to me that it's a narrative tool meant to emphasize by comparison: MC-kun wants to be "a loser, a nobody, a mob" (as you precisely put it), but MC-kun is actually a winner, a VIP, a center of attention--so much so that he just can't help but be these things. It's like the average MC-kun being totally unsettled and "troubled" by a girl whom he knows has strong romantic interest in him physically acting on that interest, even in relatively subtle ways (e.g., getting close). The author, through such a reaction, is sending a cue to the reader: "Look, she <inherently sexual action>--isn't that exciting? Get excited! Get excited!"

That said, I don't think that's the only reason JP authors do this. It unfortunately hasn't been said much, but sage advice was given in a call to be careful with and mindful of the music one listens to regularly, for it can shape the listener. This is the case for just almost any form of entertainment; this is why entertainment is one of the most effective vehicles for instruction...or indoctrination. Thus, and by now, I'm convinced that JP authors are either conditioning their male audiences to be so effetely pathetic or have been so conditioned themselves to think it's normal, thereby propagating the effeminacy passively.

Standing out, as everyone knows, is frowned upon in Japan. The story still has to be interesting in some way (the author has to justify publishers' investment), but the author also has to maintain that precept of Japanese society: don't stand out--and that means not standing above, either. Thus, the ubiquitous MC-kun who "wants to live a 'quiet life'".

You wrote quite a lot, most of which I couldn't really tell what you were trying to say, really.
But, this one in particular --- Yes, standing out is so frowned upon in Japan, that's why shounen-manga are all about protagonists who have such outlandish and extroverted personality, that their main quality is 'standing out' shamelessly.

The only explanation that makes any sense to me, is that it's really easy to write, or Japan's repressed mentality means this sort of a protagonist, just makes sense. Somehow, being lazy is much less depressing than the latter....

That being said, I'd rather have more MCs like Luffy (One Piece): shounen MCs who want something, they're able to express that they want that something, and actively act towards getting that something, rather than burn their nape from all the rubbing and twisting they're doing, and be a constant no-man about their own life, that so happens to succeed-fail upwards.

Have any of you guys considered that you’re mixing societal world views with individual world views in the judgement of these stories?
While Japanese society may shun sticking out, many Japanese individuals want to express themselves, but feel they shouldn’t due to societal constraints.
Thus, they are taught that it’s the right thing to go out of your way to fit in.
This basically means that these “mob” characters are just so up-standing that they feel they have to stay quiet, and that conflicts with their will to do good in times of crisis.
Well, at least by Japanese standards.
This common expression in manga and anime could be interpreted as a society of socially-suppressed individuals that each want to express themselves, but can’t, thanks to their perception of their own society, so they use stories as a medium to express it.

Finally got around to reading this thing and I finally realized it.

Mangadex is just normal manga website with less of the low IQ people. I get it now. They still consume trash isekai no matter the IQ level.

Kinda weird that such a basic isekai title was on popular on the front page, in mangadex the elitist site of all thing, so I checked in to see what is special. Open comment and a bunch of people are dissing it. Score is a high 7. It is kinda weird ngl, I guess I actually have to read to know now.
Ratings here are screwed up. A 7 here is like a 3 in reality.

I WANT MOREEEEE
Haven't read the handful of chapters that are out yet I'm just here after seeing this at #2 on popular. It looks like a clone of
Trapped in a Dating Sim: The World of Otome Games Is Tough for Mobs. Not that the other series is necessarily better, but you can check it out if you want more of the same kind of stuff.

This one seems to not have the mecha as the only surface level difference. Dang, authors are daring today aren't they lol

Because these are like junkfood/smoking. The whole world agrees its bad for you yet we cant stay away from it. Ppl here like a genereic isekai with just enough twist and originality and good art to consume. Dont let people convince you otherwise

This has been great so far. I know everyone is complaining about the cliches but it’s pretty silly and fun to read when you’re not trying to make it more than it is.

Elda is absolutely best girl. And so far the heroines have been interesting and fun to see. The first girl is kind of boring but Elda and Kaguya have been solid so far. We’re missing the martial artist, beast man, dwarf, elf, etc archetypes now.

The art type is fairly solid, nothing special, but I really want to see this artist tackle a full page spread titanic monster. Probably won’t come along for a while but we’ll see.

Thanks so much for all the translations! Looking forward to seeing how this one progresses.
