@A31D31N this is the nicest they’ve been portrayed so far, especially with how incompetent she as a character is, and even then you should always assume that Journalists don’t actually give a shit until proven otherwise
Because the author is an ex-JSDF enlisted who thinks old technology is superior to new and politicians and media are either scheming or at least inconsiderate assholes. I thought everybody knew this already.
@A31D31N that's an IRL Japanese thing, journalists being subshits (even going as far as harassing family of killers, asking them excuses to have raised a killer and other shit like this)
Doesn’t surprise me the sister acted like that at first. She has already seen more than the other journalists and is desperate for a story however it’s nice to see her change. On another note good thing Itami refrained from copping a free feel or it’s a toss up between snu snu to death or the usual jealous violence lol.
Reminder, Kurokawa Mari is the nurse who is on this flight. Kuribayashi Nanami is the reporter, the younger sister of Kuribayashi Shino (not present on this flight), who beat up Zorzal, and fought that monster pretending to be a little girl on that other mission.
Future spoilers regarding the female reporter:
The following happens within the next few chapters.
Nanami returns to Japan with her footage, but their network refuses to release it, because of their sponsors. An older male journalist (I think it was the asshole guy on the other mission, the one with her sister) invites her to a restaurant to tell her about the dark side of journalism. He tells her he is already too jaded, but if she wants to make a difference, she should visit a particular URL. It turns out to be a blog with uncensored facts about the other world (pictures, slice of life, other stuff the media refuses to publish). She contacts the blog's anonymous owner, and it turns out to be Noriko (the woman they rescued in the palace after the earthquake). Nanami agrees to work with her.
Later, when information about the distortions caused by the gate goes viral due to her blog, the media refer to her blog as the source of the info because they can't admit that they knew about it beforehand but refused to publish for their own selfish reasons.
If I remember correctly, the reporter on board the helicopter is the equivalent to a "lifestyle news" puff piece reporter. The type of person that covers zany new restaurants and interviews the people that win the lotto. This is basically her first serious assignment and she is completely out of her element.
