You're gonna march an army through an open plain when you know your enemies have air superiority? Are they betting that the JSDF deployed their entire force to Marles and have no reserves? Do they think they can take the city of Italica before the JSDF can respond? Either way, it's just a terrible idea because they have no way of holding the city even if they take it. A war of attrition with guerilla tactics was the better approach. Bleed our their money and men until the politics back home force them to retreat.

Huh, the translation is kinda iffy for this chapter. But it's still decently readable.
My off the cuff bet: human wave tactics + throwaway units for taking Italicagrad from the japmans. A brutal, overwhelming show of force with a goal of destroying the gate, so there will be no rice, fuel and ammunition coming in. Who cares about the losses incurred if the opponent is unable to continue while you mix and blend a new batch of human, demihuman and straight up monster troops.

get a merchant or spy (even better) inside Alnus or something, and then try to figure out how guns work at least (or better yet, stole some of them!).
just avoid open battle already, dumbass! don't commence any attack. if Japs attack, go close quarter combat like in urban setting or something (might be able to snatch some firearms from dead japs). if no one attack, then try to procure some firearms and see if you could steal the techs.

She's helping Furata leak info to the JSDF, which most recently was her belief that Zorzal's army was going to reinforce Mares. Zorzal figured out there was a leak, but maybe not who was doing it, and did a bait and switch to attack Italica to take out Pina and the new Government.

Someone is about to be introduced to the concept of rapid redeployment of military assets.
A lot of empires have been this "dumb", but chugged along for centuries while slowly declining instead of collapsing. On account of the backs of strong infrastructure and civil services, and maybe an occasional brilliant ruler who fixes their forefather's mistakes, only to have it frittered away by their immediate descendants.
As it turns out, highly evolved sovereign states don't crumble easily, even when faced with war. This kind of military-minded hubris can co-exist with somewhat stable governance, and is even realistic when you observe military conflicts over the ages.

Difference is he likes and collects books. Hardy likes and collects souls and from the context does not seem to allow them to reincarnate.
The hero is busy currently though she hates hardy because of being an otaku yet she likes an otaku heh
