You could stretch it out a good while if the battery was in good condition and you're turning it off when you aren't using it, really. But there's magic so I'd honestly assume he's just recharging it somehow anyway. Even if he's not able to use the right kind of magic himself I'm sure someone around him could send some electricity into it weakly enough to not fry the mofo outright.
