i thought they said in the 1st chapter that they had the same military strongth, and they can't say who would win in a fight if the go to war!! and, if he didn't massacre the whole amidonian army, while he could save them all!! he wouldn't have to face their ressentiments like that!! i still think that what he did could've been avoided if he wanted...the army's death was pointless, and unnecessary... he was fighting ana already win battle, the people were hungry, tired and lost all well to fight at that moment... so if he just talked or threatened them, many many of them, would have lets go of their weapons, and surrounded... and their lives would've been separed!!!
