I think its going to be more like Ruruna has to "pretend" to like Wakanas to show she is besties with humans.
Ruruna has never been able to do what she wants and the theme of this manga has been she is forced to go along with what humans make her do despite being too proud.

Except she does have control over them in some fashion similar to enthrallment. She even orders Yura to "stay" in an early chapter and she sits on the ground. It can be resisted in that same vein, so it's not total enthrallment at least.
