Japanese cops are scum due to the way their legal system works. They really don’t bother with evidence and have no concept of habeas corpus. So what they do is hold a prisoner in jail indefinitely (no due process) until they confess.

I'm kind of tired of seeing this conflict going on for pages when he could've simply refuted the detective's statement by claiming if he knew where his brother was he wouldn't have flown back to Japan to find him. It's like he's purposefully omitting information that could easily resolve everything by being vague. But that damn bugkiller is guilty that much is clear. He probably raped his aunt's corpse too, those damn guys have no morals.
