This is a cliche, but you know this is 99% going to happen, and one of the main girls is her reincarnation. And that would piss off a lot of people because it automatically locks her out as a romantic interest that half the fandom is backing.

One of the students is indeed looking for a way to raise the dead. The teacher not only knows about it, but actively HELPS him set up the preparations despite it being VERY forbidden magic as it necessitates a sacrifice for the reanimated soul to inhabit. It ends at a failure, but the student in question isn't going to give up either, so the can is simply kicked down the road rather than the cliche of moving on.
