From what's shown he was best friends with the two girls, betrayer came in took his place and cast him aside, priority him over our ml. He's already been betrayed and had to do a lot why would he trust them.

Maybe if he believed in his childhood friend and told her everything she would believe in him over the other guy, but he decides to be an asshole to her even if she has no clue what is really going on.

I quite like this I think.. for sure mc is an a$$hole but the inferrance here is he was betrayed by his best friends and had to crawl through sh*t just to survive only to have his old friend turn up begging for help. That he's pretty merciless on her seems to be reflective of the trauma he's had to live through so not really unrealistic. Be interesting to see how it plays out and quite good if we see the mc gradually overcoming the broken person he currently is.

To me it seems like those two were originally his best friends, the betrayer took the place and ml was cast aside, so why would he trust them. The flashbacks are still quite disjointed so it's hard to tell

the betrayer stabbed him and presumably pushed him off towards his death or something then told the two that he had left them to run away on his own. from the reactions she had when meeting him we can presume that he has not talked nor interacted with them since his disappearance so the two girls really have no clue what had really happened. more so from how she was still acting friendly with him and her statements to him, he should have thought things through calmly instead of acting like the edgy jerk that he is with his entire "i can't trust anybody" mentality when he can infact trust others as seen by his attitude towards Liela (the demon lady). She's even doing it to save her sister yet he tells her she's being selfish and only thinking of herself
