@boogle I mean even in our world things people don't understand are often relegated to being useless. Its like people calling youtube "not a real job" even when they succeed. The things they can do are documented it seems but just don't have any utility to them as far as the powers that be are concerned. It takes time for idiotic idea's like women not being fighters or whatever to be overturned in favor of logic. Think about how long Weed was illegal? Now the system has changed because the agenda changed and all these rich people are becoming "drug dealers" and monopolizing a market they themselves were against only a few years prior.

The world does not always make sense and even when it does things can be missed. The ability to speak to plants for instance makes him a massive asset to any garden. Royals and nobility would no doubt be willing to pay well for such skills. Not to mention other more militaristic uses such as asking the forests and flowers if they know anything.

@Serkket Indeed. It's even more baffling when you keep in mind that in Japan, like in most of places, physicians are actually well off, respected people. In shoujo series it's not rare for a dashing bishounen to be aiming for that profession. I guess some Japanese fantasy writers just don't spend a millisecond to think about what they are writing, and since these often start as web novels, there's no editor to point it out. Maybe all the authors are so healthy and lucky they never needed to visit a hospital/clinic to see a doctor driving a BMW and sporting a Rolex, haha.

You NEED doctors, no matter what, so the less people become doctors, the better the wage will be naturally... military on the other hand, not a especially well paid job normally, but granted, they are like special weapons as mages, so they should be paid well, still, if every mage wants to go there, the wages would go down...
