The problem is that he hasn't actually resolved whatever trauma he had, he just tried to push past it. Things were going okay until suddenly anxiety pokes up again and you end up spiralling back down.Really... oh please resolve it quick, we knew he was an anxious lad, but after having resolved himself to this extent and pushed so far... this feels like an intense reaction and unusually cruel from mc
Except... No trauma was ever hinted from the very beginning of this story... This story didn't even have a psychological tag to begin withNGL, that transition was solidly done for a manga representation of how trauma can just rear its ugly head out of no where. As long as they don't resolve it with the typical "just don't have trauma", "wow, thanks! I'm cured!" talk and actually address it appropriately, and as long as it doesn't take 600 chapters to resolve, I'll be happy. So, good introduction to his trauma, let's see if it's handled well.
The thing is there has been no hint about this and suddenly he has a trauma regarding his former band mates. It doesn't work that way, we would have seen him being dodgy about this stuff before like not wanting to join or just being very anxious or having fear in the first rehearsal or things like that. While the Koyuki stuff was mostly managed ok in the end despite some nonsensical stuff, this is just a "I need some plot here or this will be very uneventful if things are only fluff" kind of writing. The problem is that he hasn't actually resolved whatever trauma he had, he just tried to push past it. Things were going okay until suddenly anxiety pokes up again and you end up spiralling back down.
You don't need to hint at trauma. Most people you meet you'd never know they had trauma until something happened to trigger it. Which is why I said it was a good representation for the medium.Except... No trauma was ever hinted from the very beginning of this story... It actually does. Maybe you're used to the fantasy portrayal of trauma, but in reality you may never know someone has a trauma until their trauma response triggers. In Kurose's case, playing the guitar and having fun with friends wasn't the issue, so he'd have no trauma reaction. Then suddenly "We're glad to have you as our guitarist" triggered his "There's expectations placed on me and I'll fail them and be blamed like last time" trauma and boom, trauma response "from nowhere".It doesn't work that way,
Except it's trauma in, I don't know, what's supposed to be a FLUFF work! A god-damned FLUFF WORK!You don't need to hint at trauma. Most people you meet you'd never know they had trauma until something happened to trigger it. Which is why I said it was a good representation for the medium.
Also, it doesn't need to have a psychological tag if this is just the main conflict of the arc. It's something he has to overcome, and the process will help him grow. Which is why I said let's see how they handle it
I don't doubt your wife's situation and I'm sorry she went through that ordeal, but I also had my problems with bullying and trauma and my response was avoiding the situations that made me remember, even to this day decades after I still have aversion to certain activities because of that. I know every person have their own response, but I feel in this situation suddenly doing that 180º after he joined the band normally is a little heavy handed, we are talking about teen stuff (unless it got way out of hand, we'll see).It actually does. Maybe you're used to the fantasy portrayal of trauma, but in reality you may never know someone has a trauma until their trauma response triggers. In Kurose's case, playing the guitar and having fun with friends wasn't the issue, so he'd have no trauma reaction. I've seen a very similar situation in real life with my wife. She had a bad, late-term, miscarriage that almost killed her, and after a few years she was mostly fine (still some physical issues caused by the whole thing, seemed fine mentally) and I sliced my finger while cooking, if it hadn't caught on my fingernail I might have taken the tip off. Blood everywhere. And she went into shock, hyperventilating, pale face, tears pouring non-stop, and was basically unresponsive to me. So I had to wrap my finger up, and then sit her down to get her breathing regularly. Literally went from "I've had no trauma reactions in over 12 months" to "full blown panic attack" in a matter of seconds.
I don't think this was going to be the drama free fluff stuff we have been on forever, it has been hinted several times that Haimiya has some trauma that she is coming out from. Let's not pretend stuff like this wasn't going to happen when we have been thoroughly warned.Except it's trauma in, I don't know, what's supposed to be a FLUFF work! A god-damned FLUFF WORK!
Man I'm so burned out from this sudden development, I want the whole band thing to be fluff, I want the whole school festival thing to be fluff, I want whatever that happens between Hamiya and Kurose to be FLUFF![]()

and the author just say, "no, have some trauma drama"
Fine I am sitting out for a few weeks and hopefully I see it resolved asap and returns to what I wanted.
While that can and does happen, the way it was communicated was ass. It doesn't just suddenly go from "Oh, I'm doing great!" to "everything is ashes" like this. It's a constant slow buildup before it finally breaks through and you retreat, and we've been shown the opposite. The problem is that he hasn't actually resolved whatever trauma he had, he just tried to push past it. Things were going okay until suddenly anxiety pokes up again and you end up spiralling back down.
It honestly depends on what kind of truama he hasjust like that? That is extremely random!
