That was really rushed. Feels like the axe is coming. People just don't do expo dumps about their past like that, introducing an unknown past trauma, and the speed that we went through everything.

You don't need to hint at trauma. Most people you meet you'd never know they had trauma until something happened to trigger it. Which is why I said it was a good representation for the medium.

Also, it doesn't need to have a psychological tag if this is just the main conflict of the arc. It's something he has to overcome, and the process will help him grow. Which is why I said let's see how they handle it
Stories and real life are completely different things. Stories have a structured narrative, easily identifiable cause and effect. Also you basically live inside of the point of view characters head. To have this strong of a reaction with no sort of foreshadowing just makes it feel wrong.

It dosen't have to be anything big. Just a throw away line about how he fell out with his previous band several chapters ago. Then their is the pacing. We are jumping forward in time several hours if not days between panels and we have no idea why. we suddenly got kicked oht of our pov characters head.

Hm... Have we seen him in a situation like this before, actually? One where he has actual expectations put upon him? Where his (in)ability to live up to those expectations theoretically risks the scorn of the people who relied on him?

I really hope the axe isn't close. This one deserves so much better.. but since many series I do love a lot get the axe... now I'm worried...

Nvm.. I actually HATE this series.. I would HATE for it to keep on going for a long time...

uhm, not very fond of these sudden snapping old trauma twists, do we really need it for the sake of the plot?
Yeah, ion know what the author is doing

Normally these should js build up to some point or have it already addressed in the beginning chapters

Damn, that hit me like a freight train. Someone said it in the thread earlier but this was an excellent way to show that trauma can creep up out of no where for no reason and the author not letting on that there was this level of trauma made the shock all the more impactful. Now, let’s see how this is dealt with. Hopefully with minimal tropes and limited frustrating bs.

Am I the only one got sick of whimpy MC characters who does nothing on their own but somehow get everything at the end? It's frustrating to know that this pathetic boy will win in life.

What could've possibly been so traumatic that recalling it scared him this bad? What the actual fuck happened in middle school bro

If being relied on causes a such a trauma response, why hasn't he spazzed out before or even been more avoidant of responsibility?

He literally took up a job where he was being relied upon by children and an older lady caretaker. He has literally been stated as the reason Haimiya comes to school.

It's highly unrealistic to expect such a reactions without some small personality quirk tipping it off. "He plays guitar by himself" isn't good enough, and there was no indication that he was even in a band before. This seems like a contrived plot development manufacturing drama for the sake of Haimiya to solve it.

Also, on page 4, DTM stands for "Desktop Music". It's kinda like the equivalent of the term Bedroom Producers that you see in the West.

This shit pisses me off so much. Sick of this immature mangaka abusing this trope. They aren't able to convincingly write human interaction, and they have that young author problem of only ever being able to depict friction in the plot at a 0% or 100%.

On a psych note, which is my field, yes, trauma can be invisible, and flare ups often follow a trigger, but not like this. I get that it's a manga, but this shit is hilariously/frustratingly over the top, and the author has not earned the right to make him have evil jumpscare hallucinations because his old band got mad at him for choking. Come the fuck on, man.

It's also harmful to his character, because his choice to engage in anxious withdrawal has already hurt someone close to him before. Not only does he choose to do it again, he does it right after he heard her say, "thanks for being here and not abandoning me," and then immediately abandons them.

Basically, this dude fucking sucks. He's routinely self-absorbed in his own insecurities to the detriment of others.

Better writing would have him recognizing his habit of wanting to retreat here, and biting it down because he already learned from Haimiya that it does more harm than good. Instead, we now have to yet another "Haimiya gives him a harsh pep talk" scene.

Awful writing, full stop.
