@johnny_average at least here in my country (Indonesia), japanese ones are known for their thin af condoms, 0.01 thickness (branded as the thinnest condom in the world), so yeah, real high quality. Although the most popular ones are local-made like Sutra (to the point it's synonymous with the word "kondom") or big brands like Durex.
And I agree condoms-carrying is needed if you're sexually active, but society won't accept that especially in a conservative country like Japan or Indonesia. You're probably branded as a slut or a pervert.
EDIT: Another note, Condoms are extremely popular in Japan, mostly because it's the only over-the-counter contraception method (the same situation here in Indonesia). Stuff like morning after pill or birth control are not only unpopular, they're hard to find (just like what the manga said, only on big hospitals). So they need to make a durable, high-quality condoms so people don't have accident kids.
