@haremmony
Sorry for getting your name wrong. No problem with late response as it was error on my side.

it's the most common exactly because it's the most logically acceptable, you know?
You know that imperial metric system is still a thing? And sadly it's used by a lot of people, even if it doesn't make sense. But your argument of showing 10 numbers with fingers as easiest convinced me. I doubt it would be easy to show numbers using finger segments.

@Velsy It had an iron blade that was basically a scabbard to the mythril one. He didn't think it was a scabbard cause it looked like a normal sword from the outside.

Dammit... I was all set to complain about how short these are, but now I love how much story goes into each chapter.. somehow.

Counting segments of fingers on one hand is as logically-acceptable as finger counting and gives you base 12 which in turn gave base 60.
To be precise, “using a thumb of one hand to touch and count the 12 phalanges of the other four fingers of the same hand” (each of those four fingers has one distal phalanx, and one intermediate phalanx, and one proximal phalanx) leads to the duodecimal (base-12, dozenal) system.

If, while you do that, you start raising one of the five fingers on the other hand, that's 12×5=60.

Both 12 and 60 are convenient because they're superior highly composite numbers. And thus, mathematically speaking, it makes more sense to use them (instead of 10) as the base.

For example, that's the idea behind penny (denarius, denier, etc.) being exactly a twelfth of a shilling (solidus, sol, etc.).
