No it was the former demon lord. Someone getting defeated that easily couldn't have worked as a demon lord for too long.

@sdarkpaladin The hair is different from the assassin from chapter 25. The old assassin has hair that hangs down. This assassin has hair that goes backwards. Also he wearing a different outfit. Of course this could be because chapter 25 happened in the past and the assassin grew older, his looks changed, and he changed his costume, but that seems unlikely. Especially since every other side story leads up to current time.

...Why would you introduce former demon-lords-turned-adventurers only to kill them directly after by some no-name that doesnt even get introduced (his mask is somewhat similar to the guy from the omake, but nothing else is really)? Would have made more sense to just make some one-of S-ranked adventurers to sac, than doing that.

Want a quick way to show how dangerous one of your unknown characters is? Simple, make them do well or win in a fight with a character that the audience already knows is tough. This establishes them as willing to fight and marks them as sufficiently dangerous.

@magicalcarcrash my point was exactly that you dont need to introduce (/re-use from omake) such actually titled characters, and that no-name s-rank adventurers would have sufficed. The trope isn't changed in any way, only the wanton waste of characters is.
