Shochu isn't even that strong of a alcohol, I drink it as a beer, with some green lime juice.

Depends on the shochu. Most of it is only about 25%, some of it is more in the territory of your average vodka at 35-45%. Beer is usually less than 10% (average is like 5%) either way, but again that depends on the beer. Some of them are even up to 40% too, but that's more of an exception than a rule sort of deal.
