I actually liked that a stylish girl like her was so into the maths and science stuff. That directly reminded me of some cute female students I met at university who were also really capable not only in science but also in style, haha.

Well... In 2014, the future looked brighter in general, and despite me already being an adult back then, I also felt more positive and idealistic about the future.

And now I feel fucking old, ugh!

Been there mate. Just know that school ends and life goes on. Maybe you bombed it, maybe you aced it. A decade from now, it won't matter as much as your health and peace of mind.

Not to get too political in my cute gyaru/awkward nerd manga but that was a thing in climate denial for decades. They've basically worked their way down the list each point got blown out of the water.

1. It's not happening
2. It's happening but humans aren't responsible.
3. It's happening, humans are responsible, but this is a good thing.
4. It's happening, humans are responsible for it, it's bad, but it's too big of a problem for anyone's action to matter so why bother.
5. It's too late to fix it.

We're in "there's 8 billion people and countless people would starve if we pivot and enforcement of global standards requires global domination". It was too late a long time ago. This doesn't sell products or get votes or activate powerless plebs though.

I think you're missing the point. What one person can do to resist climate change is objectively extremely marginal, but to point this out is not saying that "it's too late to fix it" or "nothing we can do matters" but rather pointing out that the problem is with the large companies running the hundreds of factories and farms and slaughterhouses that are actually causing the problem.

To a certain extent, the whole "you can help, too!" and "it's your fault!" thing is propaganda from these massive corporations so as to shift the focus to the individuals and draw attention away from their own practices. Even if they weren't mostly useless, though, a lot of the ways an individual can technically help deal with climate change have a massive quality of life deficit, (You can't drive, you can't use the internet, you can't use heating, &c.) to the point where it's unreasonable to expect people to follow anything beyond the simplest guidelines.

So rather than making everyone's lives worse to cause basically no change, what we should really be focusing on is electing government officials that will take the problem seriously and introduce policies to keep these corporations in check, even if that means that they make less money, (Not like these people need it.) and alter their practices so as to be less harmful to the environment.

This feels like its going to go in the same direction as ogami tsumiki or like komi san or something which isn't necessarily a bad thing but also the structure feels kind of aimless. I mean it makes sense thematically i suppose but im unsure if it will keep me reading to be honest

Incidentally, I also think the gyaru has a shot here. The manga is selling itself on both heroines, it's not like Komi-san or Tsumiki where the girl is the MC, and therefore needs to "win".
