I think differently. Eve said she wants to see "what happens next" after the kiss. I think the reason why the light went out was because Tarou lost consciousness before he heard her reply. It goes to show that she is still a first love zombie through and through who's loyal to the realization of his first love.

It's the same principle as that time when Eve said that her deepest true desire is to have Ibusuki become a girl instead.
