They were still married. He cheated.

Next time try actually linking a poll from a proper source of readers, instead of from NovelUpdates, lmao.
is there any poll from ? one think thing show one proper, another is have one proper, you have to make do with what you've got

on another try found on mangaupdate 6.6/10 and myanimelist 6.4/10 they are not so different from 3.4/5.0

Damn the father's letter hit deep, at least now we understand a bit more about him. This doesn't absolve him, but at least he was able to admit his faults and also wish for his son's happiness. Someone devoid of love, found it hard to love his own flesh and blood, but found love in and with his secretary. As for Mitsuko, I want to believe she did her best as a loving mother and wife. Mitsuko single-handedly raised Kento, while the dad was more married to work than his family. All that devotion from a loving wife, and you cheat on her because she asked you to show some affection. Dad could have been around more, could have simply held and played with Kent. It's not hard to please babies, your presence also comforts them. I believe Mitsuko stabbing the dad, was just to inflict some of the pain she was dealing with after Kento went missing, she probably believed liked the others, that he had died and then killed her self. I truly believe Mitsuko loved her son Kent, but was overwhelmed by the stress and burden of her marriage and family life.:aquadrink:
(most of the things must have been told through the previous chapters, but just in case )

- Mitsuko didn't raise the protagonist alone, she did it with his paternal grandma.

- the more the father was growing distant of their house, the more she dedicated herself to spend his money on luxury goods and clothes out of spite and coping about him emotionally abandoning (can deny he made sure to always provide for them all)

- So Kento was mostly raises by his grandmother until she died of cancer 2-3 years before the start of the story. (Kento theorized that his abilities to used dark and light magic come from the conflicting feeling he felt when his grandma was on death bed :
-- geniuely wanting for her to be free of her suffering and finally rest = dark magic (necromancy)
-- but also geniuely finally heal and come back to him since she was her main parental figure = light magic (healing))

- For the grandma it must have felt like a redemption since she has never been able to raise her son nor be presentfor him until he was already an adult, she managed to at least raised her grandson and be present in his childhood.

- and after that, the father was basically never home and the mother was mostly occupied with her compensating spending spree.
For 13/14 years old, boy coming from a family like that, he is doing good.

P.S. cf chapter 53": the mother didn't just stab him once, the were a sum about 20 stabs and cuts (IMO she was either going for the kill, or she wanted for him to suffer as much as possible.)

I don't think he really cheated though? It's been a while since things fell apart between them, and it sounds like the relationship was just business until things went wrong
Read chapter 53 again :
Not only he cheated with his secretary as his mistress, but they had a child together and he was mostly living with them in another home.
If you want to defend him, you can say he was property providing for the 2 families, but you cannot save him of the cheating allegations.

None of those are proper sources; rather than try and explain over 10 years of issues (and sadness about once-great sites, and the divide between those who use those sites for their community features vs. those who just use them for finding titles and don't engage with the sites beyond that), I'll point to the more obvious. 98 votes, 51 votes, 448 votes. The closest one is MAL to a decent representation of views, but it's still lacking.

Then there's our own rating here on Mangadex (top value is 10, obviously, but mouseover tooltip won't go away);
0FOTevv.jpg

Obviously a little biased because we read here and like the site, but that's 1802 votes; THAT is a proper source for the English manga reading community (and no, just because those smaller sets generally agree with the average here doesn't mean they're actually proper sources).

Compare to the Amazon.co.jp page for the series; We can see its popularity wane over time, starting with 1,353 reviews for the 1st volume and only 290 for the latest (12th) volume, but it still maintains a relatively high star rating, over 4 and a half stars, no matter that its overall popularity (via Amazon) is decreasing. There's also Kakuyomu.jp, one of Japan's largest web novel platforms, run by KADOKAWA and Hatena together; there, 3,242 people collectively rated it 9,007 stars in a 3 star system. That's a 2.78 out of 3 rating, which is equivalent to a 9.27 out of 10. Both of those would also be considered proper sources, though of the JP manga/novel communities, instead.

I'm glad the father admit all of his mistakes. But what he should have also said, is that he wants to see his son again, and try starting over from scratch. The whole "rooting for your success from the shadows," is cowardly and lazy.

When Kento told his skeleton to go distract the people watching him, with a bark, I got very nervous. For a second, I thought he was going to resurrect his mom as undead. I'm relieved that he didn't.

That loli dark elf looking fine. Based on looks alone, he should add her to the harem.

Yeah I'm not criticizing your points, or saying that the score here isn't deserved, or that people aren't entitled to their opinions whether it be a 10 out of 10 or a 1 out of 10 (so long as they honestly and earnestly believe that it deserves that and aren't just vibe-rating or trolling); I was solely addressing the voting source(s) and their use. The Mangadex 6.67 is just as valid as that JP 9.27; they're two different communities with different members and different cultures and tastes, and are large enough to be relatively representative of fans of their respective mediums.

Remember folks, hurt people hurt people. And while the father is scum, at least MC, despite being hurt, has plenty of support and is actively working through his grief.

Plus MC is clearly getting a tanned elf girl for his harem. He is going to be ok.

where is this from?
Chapter 53, page 12. Same page talks about the multiple stab wounds and cuts the father suffered, and is when he finds out his mother committed suicide. Done via checking newspaper archives in a library. FYI next page confirms that after that was revealed his father was doxed and attacked and they moved out of the tower apartment and managed to disappear from the public eye.

Personally, I feel writing the dad's excuses to be "I was an orphan, so I don't know how to be a parent" was terrible, cliche and lazy.
I guess I can't expect much from an amateur writer...

I´m still on team demon lord with this guy... but probably it will be in another world?

I mean, by now everyone in this kid vicinity is just doing whatever, sure, they say thank you and sorry... only for then having him do more chores and fix their problems and endure with their own whims.

This dude needs an enemy, one so unapologetically evil and irredeemable... also strong, strong enough so this kid can just vent and drop all the pent up... everything

Or a master, one that ask for nothing, as in, "training you is my pay and my wish"... sure he has the skeletons, but they are under his command, so they can´t really go against his own wishes

The BBEG has already appeared in the manga.

He is going to be assigned a trainer by the Adventurer Guild, but it will take a bit for the manga to get to that part. However, the Skeletons can and do go against Kento's wishes, they stopped him from killing the kidnapping princess multiple times.
For 13/14 years old, boy coming from a family like that, he is doing good.
Kento is 16 years old. The mangaka draws everyone to be too young. That elf is hundreds of years old for instance. But as some of the descriptions for the series say, Kento is our 'diminutive hero'.

it is as the own manga (and WN) show, many forced situations and feeling, out of what you would consider normal way of thought, see it yourself here alot of rage bait, you can check other comments on Novel Update too

one of the comments there
"Honestly I can't remember exactly where I left off, only that I exhausted all the translated chapters. Honestly, before chapter 300 I felt I could wholeheartedly recommend the story. Not a 5 or anything, but it used it elements well, and didn't feel like it was substandard in really anyway. However, this story ran into the same problem that I keep finding with so many of webnovels; not knowing how to end it. The story had a pretty good premise right off the bat, and there was definitely a solid direction. However after 300-400 chapters, it more or less completed it main arc, and didn't really have the groundwork to do anything else. While there was other plot points, none of them could adequately take over, thus it started to drag on far too long. Also, one other thing that this story does kinda weird, is that it seems allergic to allowing some characters to grow. Now, I will not say that all characters aren't allowed to change. However there is one character in particular that I can recall that even gets involved in part of an arc and seems to have a moment of growth, and then almost immediately the next time we see him it's like he's backpedaled back at mach 10. Still, it your bored and need something to occupy a bit of time, go ahead and try it out."
Hmmm... Well, in order...

With regards to forced situations, when reading Isekai you have to take that with a grain of salt because the entire premise is a forced situation to begin with. That's kinda the draw here, regardless: it is a very abnormal situation that a downtrodden person has been dropped into. And these are usually pretty flawed people. Actual Chads are pretty rare, and the few we see are people who've had no choice but to knuckle under extremely shitty circumstances - usually for the sake of someone else they care about (who is often truck-kunned along with them), or due to a terminal illness (two subtypes exist here, loved and unloved - either way they usually go on to be gigachads in their isekai life).

That said, the pacing is a bit off-kilter, but I otherwise haven't noticed anything that's been particularly forced .

In fact, I would even say that a lot of the issues seem to be with the translation itself being janky. I'm hoping that we'll see better now that the original TLer has picked this up again.

With regards to "normal way of thought"... well, that's actually part of the theme, here.

Sit tight, I'll explain.

I have no idea what your own personal IRL circumstances are, but you have to understand that the MC was a victim of abuse/neglect. And I can assure you, as someone who has been raised to hate absolutely everything about himself? Even the fact that I was born as a male because my sister (who was also a stepchild) got much better treatment than I? That kind of thing leaves a serious mark on a person. You wind up secure in the idea that everything is your fault. I'm nearly 50 years old, single, and never had any children because of how I was raised, and I am still struggling with it.

And that's what the mangaka has been showing us here - the struggles of someone who has severe self-esteem issues brought on by how they were raised, even when the world has been seemingly handed to them on a silver platter. And while they objectively know what to do for the good of everyone around them, they barely know what to do for themselves because they've never been allowed such selfish things. No, it's not logical, but this is what abuse does to people.

The main reason why it's not obvious is because this is being done entirely from the main character's perspective, who is an unreliable narrator because he himself has no idea of how messed up he actually is. And what's worse is that not too many people seem to really notice how much he flagelates himself, because they were raised to feel that being so selfish as to cry about being hurt is a bad thing.

Oh, and since people don't seem to know about unreliable narrators, here's a great article about it. I strongly encourage folks to at least skim through it.
https://alanwatt.com/how-to-write/character-development/unreliable-narrator/

As for the rage bait... Well, I haven't read the LN or WN this is based on. But it is an issue that is prevelant among these amatuer authors - that they'll start a story and have no real idea of where to go with it. This is why it's so critically important to have a good editor.

And, unfortunately, a lot of these editors aren't really all that great for these new authors because they're all looking for the next One Piece or Lupin The Third to grace their publishing house - something that will just keep on going and going without any real end in sight, and that people will never get sick of - neither the author nor the readers. In short, they're looking for a goose that lays the golden eggs - the infinite money printing machine.

Not to say that it isn't an issue with the story at all - it very much is. But rather, it's something one should expect from anything coming out of sites like Soyetsu or, on the English side of things, Royal Road.

So yeah, this is all pretty much why it is you're seeing what you're seeing. It's not to take anything away from your arguments per se, and I honestly hope it helps with your persepctive.
