i do hope they will go in the forest and find out WHY the monsters keep to spawn over and over and trying to destroy the city.
it feels like a insane cult is behind this or worse.. a Boss monster.

I don't think the manga has gotten there yet. The anime ended on revealing their relationship to everyone. It's been awhile since I read the light novel, seems like the official release is getting to the more...bold...developments in their relationship so I should get on it, but I think it was around volume 4 of the ln that it happened...I think? Again, it's been awhile.
